Whale Watching Trips

The humpback whales leave their feeding grounds in Antarctica in April and migrate to Tongan waters, with the first whales arriving in June.  They remain in Tongan waters until October during which time they mate and give birth.

We operate from July – October with the  peak time being August -September.

You can join us for an excursion, and watch these magnificent creatures, and if possible, swim with them.

This is a full day excursion 9 am – 3 pm, departing from and returning to our base at Talitali’anga Eco Resort on Uoleva Island Following a briefing prior to departure we head out seeking encounters before stopping either at an offshore reef or island for lunch and snorkeling. We then resume whale watching and return at around 3pm. Snorkeling gear, wetsuits, lunch and refreshments are provided. Bring sunscreen, swimming gear, jacket, towel and camera.

To ensure the well being of the humpback whales, we follow the whale watching and swimming regulations carefully. We swim in groups of 4 with a certified guide, and take a maximum of 8 guests/ trip. Our encounter is dictated by the whales so we give  no guarantee of swimming with them. We conduct swims if the whales are content with our presence and show  relaxed behavior. We recommend to book several days for those who want to be sure to swim with these friendly giants whilst on holiday. The first to book will be in the first group to swim.
